December 2019 Newsletter
Welcome to the online edition of The Alberta Snowmobiler!
Since 1971
Many of you may have already received the
news that SnoRiders Magazine is no longer printing and mailing out
their magazines. The ASA had a section in the magazine to publish and
share timely news, information and messages from the Board of Directors
and staff of the association. We will now be doing that with an in
season monthly newsletter, to keep you up to date on snowmobiling in
Alberta.
All future issues of The Alberta Snowmobiler will be sent to our members
by e-mail and found on the website under the News section.
SnoRiders is still available to view online. The link to view it is below:

Many of you have already purchased your 2019-2020 ASA Membership. Thank
you so much for your support. To get your $80 membership and trail pass
(as of January 1st, the price will increase to $90) you can contact your
local club or purchase online through our website. Here's a link to
purchase online: http://albertasnowmobile.ca/get-involved/asa/join-asa
Thank you to all those worker bees who volunteered clearing trails this
fall. We wouldn't have trails to ride without you. Contact your local
club to find out if and when trails in your area will be open. There is a
list of club contacts on the ASA website (albertasnowmobile.ca)
Pictured above: We would love to give a special shout out to the volunteers from McMurrary Sno-Drifters for coming out this past weekend to clear trails. Big thank you to Alicia and Trevor Houg, Christian Matt, Brent Christensen, Dave Leslye, Cory Manns and Terry the Sno-Drifter's president. There is still work to do if you're in the area and have time to help out. Call (780)792-7603.

ASA Club Zone Highlights
This month’s zone highlight is from Lyle
Birnie, ASA Regional Director for the Iron Horse Zone and Past President
of the association .
"I spent quite a bit of time with Marianne Janke from the Iron horse
office at the show and she keeps me in touch with all that is happening.
There has been some water line work between Smokey Lake and Bellis and
there are some problems with the cleanup. Geo Deputat did some
inspections regarding gravel removal and not replaced. I had a good
visit with Michelle Wright from Smoky Lake County Economic Development
and the County has been putting pressure on the contractors to clean up
their mess.
Cold Lake Club held their annual Sleds & Threads function on
November 2nd. They had dealer displays silent and live auctions and a
Prime Rib dinner. I would have liked to attend but with the financial
cuts from the Province it was too costly. Kevin Lester sent me a sign
order and I have passed it on to Janet
The Zone had two award winners this year. Dean Dube from Cold Lake won
the groomer award and St Paul Trail Blazers won the zone Club of the
year.
There are meetings coming up with the Buffalo First Nations and the
local Counties about a new trail through the reserve. They will keep me
in touch when this takes place."
